AMALIE ATKINS (Saskatoon, SK) hop-scotches between materials and mediums: craft based sculptures turn into props, drawings become films, and the occasional bike ride ends up in performance. Her film Three Minute Miracle is screening on Thursday night at the Video Drive-In.

COOPER BATTERSBY & EMILY VEY DUKE (Syracuse, NY) have been working collaboratively since 1994. They work in printed matter, curation and sound, but their focus currently is on sculptural video installation. Their film Beauty Plus Pity is screening on Thursday night at the Video Drive-In.

ELISABETH BELLIVEAU (Montreal, QC) is an interdisciplinary artist working simultaneously in drawing, fibres, and animation. She has self-published two books: Something To Pet The Cat About and The Great Hopeful Someday. She is currating the Thursday night Video Drive-In.

BRANDON BLOMMAERT (Calgary, AB) is an audio and visual artist. His latest work includes animation, experimental electronic music, and contributing to zines and bookworks. His film Greycon4 is screening at the Wednesday night Video Drive-In.

ERIC CHENAUX (Toronto, ON) experiments with guitars, ballads, electronics and tunes as an improviser and songwriter. He continues to pursue multi-disciplinary interactions with a variety of other artists. Eric is performing a short concert on Thursday evening.

AMANDA DAWN CHRISTIE (Sackville, NB) is an interdisciplinary artist working in film, contemporary dance, photography, and electroacoustic sound design. Her site specific sculptural radio work, The Marshland Radio Plumbing Project, is being performed at various sites throughout the week; please see the schedule for times and locations.

STÉPHANE CLAUDE is an electroacoustic sound artist, audio mastering engineer and the head of the audio sector of OBORO’s new media lab. He is participating in the SIMULCAST 2.0 : Sackville radio art project.

MELANIE COLOSIMO (Halifax, NS) is an interdisciplinary artist, who shares peculiar life stories and daydreams through kinetics, drawing and stop motion animation. She is running the daily Kids Corner Power Jam workshops, and her film Throwing Rocks is screening on Wednesday night at the Video Drive-In..

KATE CROCKER (Dawson City, YK) is six years old, and lives in the Yukon. Sun is Kate's first attempt at stop motion animation, and was first screened at the Dawson City International Short Film Festival; it is screening on Thursday evening at the Video Drive-In.

CRYSTALBEARD (Vancouver, BC) is the work of animation collaborators Ben Jacques and Stu Hughes. They have been working together since 2006. The Crystalbeard film Adventure Land Fun Balloon is screening on Wednesday evening at the Video Drive-In.

SILOËN DALEY (Halifax, NS) is an independent animator and filmmaker. She has worked in film as a teacher, assistant film editor, animator, and assistant director for children's television. Siloën’s film Something on Film is screening at the Wednesday night Video Drive-In.

GENNARO DE PASQUALE (Montreal, QC) is interested in the representation of sound through images, objects, and installations, as matter, language and autonomous art work. He works with videos, photographs, drawings, sound pieces and new music. Gennaro’s film Bold Stories is screening at the Wednesday night Video Drive-In.

KENNETH DOREN (Guelph, ON) is a multi-media artist who has created two digital operas, and composed Imperial Wild for Motion Ensemble to perform at the 2008 Ok.Quoi?! Arts Festival. His multimedia performance Long waiting without stars is being performed on Sunday afternoon.

LINDA RAE DORNAN (Sackville, NB) is an interdisciplinary artist creating performance, video, and audio art; she is the 2009 Ok.Quoi?! Local Artist In Residence. Her film, Where The Bee Sucks is screening Tuesday night, and she is hosting a performance art workshop on Wednesday afternoon.

RYAN DRIVER (Toronto, ON) is a member of many music ensembles in Toronto, including Deep Dark United, The Reveries, The Silt, and others. He plays guitar and sings, but also improvises with instruments as varied as twangy rulers and rubber balloons. Ryan is performing new music with Justine Haynes on Thursday night.

SHAYNE EHMAN (Quadra Island, BC) & SETH SCRIVER (Toronto, ON) are interdisciplinary artists and animators currently working on a series of animated videos called Asphalt Watches. Together they designed the 2009 Ok.Quoi?! & SappyFest poster.

DARREN EMEMAU (Central Greenwich, NB) is a cermacist who experiments with locally dug clays and their impurities. This is Darren’s fourth year participating in the Little Beauty Tour at Struts. JEAN-PIERRE GAUTHIER (Montreal, QC) is the 2004 recipient of the Sobey Award. He has a hybrid practice incorporating visual arts with audio exploration. Jean-Pierre is showing an offsite installation as part of the Artificial Sweetner project.

MARIO GAUTHIER (Montreal, QC) has recorded over 300 concerts for Radio-Canada, and over 50 of his spots and productions are available on CD. Gauthier currently works as a soundman and mastering consultant for CDs; he is writing a book, titled Lointains Paysages. Mario's audio art is screening late at night on CHMA 106.9FM.

WILLIAM GILL (St. John's, NL) has exhibited sculpture and painted works across Canada. He has participated in creative residencies in Newfoundland, Alberta, and Vermont. His film, Cape Spear is screening on Wednesday night at the Video Drive-In.

ROBERT HAMILTON (Hamilton, ON) is an artist and filmmaker who shoots images from his immediate community and re-organizes those images to create a reconstituted version of realism and authenticity. Robert’s film Winona is screening on Wednesday night at the Video-Drive In.

JUSTIN HAYNES (Toronto, ON) plays guitars and other instruments independently and with others. He composes music for groups and screens, both small and large, and facilitates the creation of new music at Keys to the Studio. Justin is performing new music with Ryan Driver on Thursday evening.

NELSON HENRICKS
(Montreal, QC) is a musician, writer, curator and artist, best known for his widely-exhibited videotapes. He has taught at numerous Canadian universities, and has been published in various magazines and anthologies. Nelson’s film Satellite is screening on Thursday night at the Video Drive-In.

HELEN HILL (1970-2007) The late Helen Hill began creating short animated films at age eleven. Helen was attracted to various animation techniques, and to do-it-yourself methods of filmmaking, such as hand processing and toning images by hand. CLAIRE HODGE (Halifax, NS) is an audio-visual artist specializing in video, installation and interactive art. She recently graduated from the NSCAD with a MFA. She is a member of the new media art collective Incomplete Dislocation. Claire’s film Smash is screening on Wednesday night at the Video Drive-In.

CLAUDINE HUBERT (Montreal, QC) is a translator for the arts in Canada. She is Program Coordinator for events and exhibitions at OBORO, an artist-run centre, and spends her summers in New Brunswick working on personal writing, translation and knitting projects. She is felting sculptures from animal hair in the ‘Little Beauty’ Boler trailer, accompanied by Darren Ememau and Alexandra Flood on Saturday afternoon.

IRiSs Lab #4 (Sackville, NB/Halifax, NS) stands for Integrated Ruptures in Sensory Spaces. This collective group aims to create non-linear improvisational work that abandons the standard white screen at the front of the black cinematic box. IRiSs is performing on Tuesday evening.

ALEXANDRE LAROSE (Montreal, QC) studied experimental film at Concordia University. Through extensive formal treatment of the film medium, his work explores fear and anxiety stemming from the search for identity. Alexandre’s film Le Corps Humain is screening on Wednesday night at the Video Drive-In.

VALERIE LEBLANC (Moncton, NB) is a pluridisciplinary artist, whose work fluxes between media arts, performance and the plastic arts. Many of her videopoems, emphasize the importance of non-spectacular time, the significance of the day-to-day, and the beauty present in available aesthetic. Her films, Jelly Fish and Passion as Fashion are screening on Wednesday night at the Video Drive-In.

LISA LIPTON (Halifax, NS) is a textile, performace, film, and installation artist, who plays with both figurative and abstract themes. Lisa has created a an installation called Stars in that Baby Blue, combining soft sculpture, found objects, video, and slide projections with drawn and painted elements.

NICOLE LIZÉE (Montreal, QC) has composed music for unorthodox instrument combinations, including turntables, the Atari 2600 video game console, and karaoke tapes, in a concert music setting. She is the 2009 Ok.Quoi!? Composer In Residence.

JESSICA MACCORMACK (Montreal, QC) combines various elements of interactivity, performance, intervention, installation and video in her work. She has played an active part in artist-run culture, performance collectives, and in collaborations. Jessica’s film Nothing Ever Happened is screening on Thursday night at the Video Drive-In.

ANNE MACMILLAN (Halifax, NS) uses computer 3D space and modular structures as a framework for her drawings, videos and sculptures. Her process often negotiates rules and constraints with human error and intuition. Anne is participating in the Artificial Sweetner offsite installations project.

EMMANUEL MADAN (Montreal, QC) is a sound artist and composer, focusing on electroacoustic music, art and technology. He is currently working with ambient sound environments and found sounds. Emmanuel is curating a program of audio art that is being broadcast late at night on CHMA 106.9FM.

RITA MCKEOUGH (Calgary, AB) is the winner of the 2009 Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts. Her layered installations and performances touch on issues including displacement, demolition of neighborhoods, domestic violence, and ecological damage. Rita is curating the Artificial Sweetner offsite installations project with Peter Flemming.

ALLYSON MITCHELL (Toronto, ON) is a maximalist artist working in sculpture, installation and film. Allyson melds feminism and pop culture to play with contemporary ideas about sexuality, autobiography, and the body. Her film, Foodie is screening on Wednesday night at the Video Drive-In.

AIMÉE DAWN ROBINSON (Toronto, ON) is an improvising dancer, musician, writer, visual artist and gardener. Aimée co-founded Up Darling Contemporary Dance and is the director of multi-disciplinary performance series, A Month of Sundays. ROBERT SHEDDEN (Halifax, NS) is a musician and installation artist, whose recent work has included giant quilted igloos. He is the Ok.Quoi?! Open Studio artist-in-residence.

CHAD VAN GAALEN (Calgary, AB) is a renowned Canadian musician who has been creating animations for the past eight years. He is a former Struts Gallery Open Studio artist-in-residence. His film Bald Static is screening on Thursday night at the Video Drive-In.
