Rita McKeough
Artist-in-Residence
August 2003

During her stay in Sackville, Rita will focus on one segment of her new work entitled Scruff, which Rita will be installing in its entirety at the Owens Art Gallery this October. In Scruff, Rita examines 'relationships between borders that are established between rural and urban spaces.' With technical assistance from fellow artist Peter Flemming, combined with her own performative elements, the work is envisioned as interactive with the audience, having visual and audio aspects taken from Sackville and surrounding areas. At Struts, Rita will also be conducting several workshops involving homemade electronics, video performance and audio performance.

Rita McKeough has over thirty exhibitions under her belt and over 20 years experience as instructor and professor, including three years as Assistant Professor at Mount Allison's Fine Arts Department. On Saturday, August 9 Rita will be giving a workshop which will be an introduction into basic electronics as it relates to audio, how to build a small amplifier, and how to alter recycled electronics for use in audio work.
