Mail Art: what is it and what is it all about anyway?

Mail Art has long been a way for artists to show their work around the world and often includes zines, illustrated letters, postcards, rubberstamps fake postage etc. Influenced by such movements as fluxus and dada, it began as an alternative to the gallery system but soon arose into an eternal network of artists making art through the mail
using the postal service as the primary medium.

Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Center will host a 10th annual Mail Art exhibition in conjunction with their 25th anniversary.
The exhibition will take place between March 30th to April 28th.
All works submitted during that time will be exhibited. The only restrictions are those placed on or by our postal system.
For further information do not hesitate to contact Lianne Zannier, who will be organizing the exhibition, at lianne@strutsgallery.ca

Struts Gallery is holding a Stamping Bee which will take place alongside the
10th Annual Mail Art Show: let the border, if any, be simple on Saturday March 31st

Struts is putting together a publication of all the stamps that we have been commissioning, and putting on the backs of letters sent to you since 1996.

Gather with friends to be part of the making, and stamping, of a book. If you would like to take part in this project or require further information please contact:
