Acoustic Principles, types of microphones, recording techniques for both analogue and digital mediums.

2 hour technical workshop on PA systems, mixers, home made contact mics and speakers. followed by a jam with contact mics, and laptops come for the whole evening, or just for the jam

lighting safety and care. lighting for film, video, and animation. creative and standard approaches.
November 4
Intro to Final Cut Pro
basic non-destructive video editing techniques including logging and capturing, batch capturing, understanding the workarea, file management, using the timeline and the toolbars, tips, tricks, and techniques. printing to video, exporting for dvds, and prepping for the web.
November 11
Intro to Photoshop
basic digital imaging techniques including image capture, file management, color management, image size, resolution, working with layers, and prepping images for the lab or the printer.
November 18
Motion PIcture Filmmaking on Film
Super 8 and 16mm cameras and camerless filmmaking. Hand-Processing, shooting with a camera, using the editing equipment (moviscop, splicer, handwinders) and running the projectors.

Electrical Basics for Artists
a useful introduction to electrical principles for anyone interested in working with sound systems, video projection, computer cabling, and high wattage lighting for film and video.
