Check Points Defining Home These images as a group are in part, a document of my journey home. Home for me is the Trinity Bay area of Newfoundland. About an hour outside of St. Johns, it is the place my family has called home for approximately 300 years. Home may be that place where you have grown up or where you have spent a large part of your life. Often it is a place where we feel we have an ultimate connection. This connection can often be fueled by memories of people, places and events. My family and I travel there each year from our Dorchester NB home. Each of these images represents a checkpoint along this journey. I watch and wait for them with anticipation as each one draws nearer. As one is surpassed another will come and I will be all the closer to home. We all have these checkpoints along a route. They may at times be random things. It could be a building, an intersection, a section of trees lining a road or maybe a brook. Whatever it may be, we often catch ourselves saying: “halfway there”, or “almost home now”. There at times seems to be something instinctive about it, whereby many of us strive to return home at any opportunity.
