CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS!!
Instructions for a Members’ Show
Deadline: Ongoing until end of residency
Residency/Exhibition: March 14 – April 14, 2010
A collaborative project and exhibition organized by Scott Rogers
This call for submissions is open to all Struts Gallery members
Instructions for a Members’ Show will be a collaborative residency and exhibition between visual artist
Scott Rogers and the membership of Struts Gallery. For this project Rogers is soliciting instructions for
artworks from Members of Struts Gallery which he will then produce in consultation with the selected
participants during the course of his residency in Sackville. Rogers will choose a variety of sets of
instructions from the submissions and will then work in direct communication with each artist to produce
and present the finished works. Each artwork will remain the property of the participants after the
exhibition concludes. All media are accepted and instructions from Struts Members of diverse
backgrounds are strongly encouraged. If you are not a resident of Sackville or the surrounding area,
but are a member of the gallery, your submissions will also be accepted. Any long-distance
submissions will be developed over email, skype, and telephone.
For this version of the project I am interested in producing artworks of an ephemeral nature that
take place either in the gallery space or in public locations. These works could take the form of
performances, lectures, public sculptures, poster campaigns, workshops, temporary installations,
durational activities, site-specific projects, documentary or film/video making, set building, social
or relational artworks, multi-person performances, mapping, pseudo-scientific or scientific
research, architectural interventions, gardening, cooking, reading, et cetera, et cetera.
In order to have your work reviewed, please submit:
1. A set of text instructions describing the procedures for making your artwork (max 500 words, no
images please). Please include technical, conceptual and material details for the project.
2. Your availability during the residency period (days, evenings, weekends).
3. Any additional information you feel is relevant (as brief as possible)
4. If you are not yet a member of Struts please contact the gallery in order to purchase
your membership. Submissions will be cross-referenced with an up-to-date members list from
the gallery. Contact the gallery for more information.
Submit all instructions to the email address: struts(dot)instructions(at)gmail(dot)com
