Musical Sound Sculptures Camp 2010

ages 8- 12

Taught by Helen Pridmore and Adriana Kuiper, participants will have the opportunity to make their own sound sculptures, which they will be able to perform with visiting musicians. Adriana will give an introductory talk about sound and sculpture, and will show some examples of sound sculptures built by artists. Participants will get to look at the materials and start coming up with ideas. Helen will help out with sound ideas and experiments.
These workshops are free of charge.

Monday July 26, 2010
where: Mount Allison University Sculpture Studio
when: 1 pm – 3 pm

Tuesday July 27, 2010
where: Mount Allison University Sculpture Studio
when: 1 pm – 3 pm
Participants will start work on their sculptures. Some may have brought items from home to incorporate into their sculptures. Participants will go on a walk to find things that might work: maybe from the Dollar store, maybe just on the street or in the Thrift Store!

Wednesday July 28, 2010
where: Mount Allison University Sculpture Studio

Participants will spend the day working on their sculptures.

Thursday July 29, 2010
where: Mount Allison University Sculpture Studio
when: 1 pm – 3 pm
Participants will try to finish up work on their sculptures, because this afternoon members of Motion Ensemble will come in for a jam session and everyone will play on their new instruments!

Friday July 30, 2010
where: Mount Allison University Sculpture Studio
when: 10: 30 am
A workshop for ages 5-10 and their parents/friends/caregivers. Kids will come in to make small musical sculptures! Participants from the week will be on hand to help out.

On the final day the students of the Musical Sound Sculptures workshop perform in the Bandstand downtown! Bring friends and family to listen to their wild and wonderful new musical sculptures. After the performance, participants are invited to bring their creations to Struts Gallery, where they will be on display for a week.
