J. R. Carpenter is a web artist, zine-maker, and writer of poetry, very short fiction, long fiction, non-fiction and web-based non-linear intertextual hypermedia narratives. Sometimes she does these things separately, sometimes all at once. She studied Life Drawing and Anatomy at the Art Students’ League of New York and Fibres and Sculpture at Concordia University in Montreal, where she has served as President of the Board of Directors of OBORO, an artist-run gallery and new media lab, since 2006.

J.R. Carpenter : Writing Coastlines

Inspired by the writings and maps of Samuel de Champlain and the great Canadian/American poet Elizabeth Bishop, J.R. aims to uncover successive generations of Sackville's narrative. The project combines experimental writing, performance, collaboration, historical research, cartography, and communication networks, J.R. will have zines for sale at teh event but is encouraging those that are interested to bring zines of their own to trade or sell.

Ease Down the Road Artist-in-Residence : Lianne Zannier

Lianne Zannier lives and works in Montreal, QC. She graduated with a BA in Art History and Visual Arts from Mount Allison University as is currently studying Film Animation at Concordia University. She likes to animate drawings that transform one thing into another, revealing magical happenstance and the tricks we play with our eyes.

During her stay at Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Centre she will be working on making short animated drawings that can be viewed at liannezannier.tumblr.com as well as finishing an animation for Shotgun Jimmie's song Impossible Popcycle.
