Jolt Him: A concert featuring music by composer Christopher Mayo
Motion Ensemble
7 Lorne Street
8 PM

http://www.christophermayo.net/

Motion Ensemble presents Jolt Him: a concert featuring a brand-new work written for them by one of Great Britain’s hottest emerging composers, Christopher Mayo.
Mayo has written music for the London Sinfonietta,  the London Symphony Orchestra and was featured in the BBC television documentary Classic Goldie where he assisted English drum and bass star Goldie with his commission for the 2009 BBC Proms. Mayo will give a brief talk at the beginning of the concert.
Also on the program is the innovative Love Hurts by Helen Pridmore (Sackville, CAN) and Glossolalia: Stress Positions by Eldritch Priest (Ithaca, USA)

Motion Ensemble, NB’s contemporary music source, performs music that is at times irreverent, at times beautiful and always unusual. In recent seasons, the ensemble was invited to do concerts in Halifax,  Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver. The group also has begun  work on its fourth CD to be released next year on New York label Mode Records.

Performing this show are Helen Pridmore, voice; Nadia Francavilla,  violin; Andrew Miller, contrabass; Karin Aurell, flute; Richard  Hornsby, clarinet and D’Arcy P. Gray, percussion.

Admission is pay what you can.
