LUCY MACDONALD - Sackville
Lucy MacDonald is teaming up with the Motion Ensemble for the second round of Drawing Sound. Lucy is Curator of Education and Community Outreach at the Owens Art Gallery where she develops collaborative projects, school programs, family activities and the other ways to connect people with the visual arts. Lucy received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mount Allison University and a graduate degree in Museum Education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
WL ALTMAN -Sackville
WL Altman is a composer and laptop performer. His written works are performed and commissioned by musicians across North America, and confound conventional models of notated music by sharing real-time creative processes with the performers, through improvisation and reactive listening. His most recent piece, an hour-long work for string quartet, voice and live 10-channel surround diffusion presented at the Banff Centre, addresses some of the implications of Janet Cardiff’s popular audio installation “40-Part Motet”.

LEAH GARNETT -Sackville
Sackville-based artist Leah Garnett has exhibited in Canada, the US, and Germany as well as attending residences at the Banff Centre and the MacDowell Colony. Currently she teaches at Mount Allison University in the fine arts department and hosts a weekly radio show Drawing on Air on CHMA radio where she travels into the hearts and homes of many.
JASON MCLEAN - Vancouver
Though John Murchie thinks he is in the top 4, Mclean's magazine recently chose Vancouver BC based artist as one of the top ten visual artists to watch for in Canada. His practice includes drawing, sculpture, installation, sound performance and mail art. In 2007 Jason has provided us with the image of a two-headed monster for our dear festivals Ok.Quoi?! and the Sappy Records Music Festival.

MARTIN ARNOLD - Toronto
Toronto-based composer and performer Martin Arnold has studied with many of the giants of the new music scene. He is an active member of Toronto's free improvisation and experimental jazz/roots/rock communities. He composes for and plays with Marmots and Cow Pows, plays guitar in the Ryan Driver Quartet as well as the electric banjo and sings in Eric Chenaux's trio. He has written both widely on both music and visual art and his compositions have been played nationally and internationally. Currently Martin works as a landscape gardener, lectures in the Department of Cultural Studies at Trent University in Peterborough and is an Adjunct member of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at York University in Toronto.
GOODY B. WISEMAN - Los Angeles
Goody is an interdisciplinary artist working in print, installation, video and performance. Goody will be in Sackville as part of the Struts Gallery Open Studio Artist in Residence Program and will be facilitating a video/music workshop as part of the Creative Lab.

ERYN FOSTER - Halifax
Eryn Foster received a graduate degree from the University of Guelph and a BFA from Concordia University, Montreal. Her work has been included in exhibitions in Canada, the United States, and England. She is also the director of the fabulous Eyelevel Gallery in Halifax. Her latest project is the New Canadian Pilgrimages, the first of which will be a 250 km walk from Halifax to Sackville, culminating in a Pilgrims Feast to launch the 2007 edition of Ok.Quoi?!

MICHAEL WATERMAN - Guelph
Michael Waterman works in installation, audio art, and improvisational performance. He has presented his work at galleries and festivals throughout North America and is a founding member of the audio collage ensemble Mannlicher Carcano (created in 1998) whose members live in Los Angeles, Winnipeg, and Guelph. Mannlicher Carcano performs live in weekly audio improvisations via telephone conferencing and web streaming. Michael will be in participating in Ok.Quoi?! in a variety of capacities: performer, programmer and Pilgrim.
ANDREA DORFMAN - Toronto/Halifax
Programing an evening of video screenings for the Video Drive-In, Andrea is a multi-talented award winning filmmaker whose films and documentary's have been shown around the world including such titles as Parsley Days and Love that Boy. She has also directed two seasons of the Award winning CBC show Street Cents and is currently working on her first documentary, Sluts, exploring the mythology surrounding the high school slut.

MOTION ENSEMBLE - Sackville/Fredericton
Motion Ensemble is a chamber music group based in New Brunswick, Canada. Their repertoire is an eclectic mix of post-classical and experimental music. Motion’s music often utilizes electronics or visual media. The group has been presenting its own concerts since 1998, now with series in Fredericton, Sackville and Saint John; they also reach thousands of school children through their educational projects.

KENNETH DOREN - Guelph
Kenneth is a Canadian multi-media artist whose art installations, videos and digital operas have been presented around the world. His first digital musical work “Allegro Molto Con Brio King Kong” (1999) focuses on pop culture connections to the Greek myth of Prometheus and incorporated a string quintet, three dancers and video monitors preformed live to sold out audiences. Last summer (2006) he composed the music “Imperial Wild” for a Motion Ensemble performance at Ok.Quoi?!
Kenneth returns to Sackville as Struts Open Studio Artist in Residence to continue his exploration of digital opera and participate in the 2007 edition of Ok.Quoi?!

CALVIN JOHNSON - Olympia
Calvin has been working in underground culture since he was a teenager. He established K, a locally oriented media outlet, in 1982 and in 1993 he founded Dub Narcotic, a recording studio, in which he has documented the work of artists such as Mirah, the Blow, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Make-Up and Little Wings. It has also been the incubator of many Calvin experiments in collaboration and self-expression, such as Beat Happening, Halo Benders and Dub Narcotic Sound System. The decade of the double zeroes has seen Calvin Johnson set out into the world, acoustic guitar in hand, as a solo artist of musical platitudes.

SINGING SAWS + POISSON D'AVRIL - Toronto/Montreal
Seven singing saws singing songs with shadows slightly slanted. sweeping melodies of sing-songs for the Trapeze to balance the dance of sound and light. Anna Ward is a Trapeze artist from Montreal who has performed with circuses around the world. She likes to mix things that are not usually in combination. She is quite envigorated with the idea of peforming with the singing saws as she has never combined trapeze with implements before (musical or otherwise).
