Open Call for Proposals: L’AmbianceÂ
Short-term Art Projects in Partnership with Sappyfest (July 31 – August 2, 2026) Â
Deadline to Apply: Monday, March 2, 11:59pm Atlantic Time  Â
Â
Struts Gallery is inviting artists living in the Atlantic region (Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island) to submit proposals for L’Ambiance, a series of short-term artist projects presented in partnership with Sappyfest, everyone’s favourite independent music festival. Â
We welcome artists and artist collectives to propose projects that transform different areas of Sackville or Struts Gallery facilities into memorable, creative spaces. We are particularly interested in ongoing, ambient projects that offer opportunities for interaction. Proposed projects may animate specific zones, offer moments of respite from the bustle of the festival and/or open space for connection and engagement. We welcome use of our extensive media arts equipment holdings in the creation and/or execution of the project. Projects that occur outdoors and offsite are encouraged! Â
Â
Eligible mediums include offsite installations, sound art, relational performance (conversation, participation, collaboration, shared experiences), screenings/projections, and portable sculpture.  Â
•  Time based projects should run for a hefty portion of the festival and should not require a dedicated audience or performance time. Â
•  Sculptural works should be durable and not require extensive monitoring or surveillance.  Â
Â
Struts Gallery will provide: Â
Artist fees in accordance with the 2026 CARFAC Fee Schedule for group exhibition or festival performance Â
Per diem, Accommodations, Travel expenses Â
Festival pass for Sappyfest - access to Sappyfest artist meal services.  Â
Media arts equipment and technical support Â
Installation assistance and logistical support Â
Promotion and documentation of the work Â
 Â
Who can apply? Â
Artists and collectives at all career stages living in the Atlantic region (Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island). Struts Gallery is dedicated to presenting work that reflects the diversity of disciplines and media that shape contemporary art practices. Proposals from artists whose works are alternative, experimental and/or critically engaged are encouraged.
