Struts Gallery Retrofit, Phase 1: Façade

​

The long-awaited retrofit has begun! This first phase of work focuses on critical structural repairs to the front of our building on 7 Lorne Street. The work undertaken includes brick-repointing using heritage methods, restoring the windows to the historic Tingley Bros & Duncan storefront look and installing an accessible front door in the iconic yellow that we all know and love. 

 

Why are we renovating? Our engineering consultants at Heritage Standing Inc. identified that our front wall was rapidly degrading and immediate intervention was needed to protect and stabilize it. Engineered shoring was installed in June 2026 and permanent repairs are beginning September 21, 2026. This phase of work will cost us about $200,000 total. We are urgently fundraising to cover these construction expenses. Please consider making a donation to our Building Fund today.

Monthly Giving is an easy way to provide ongoing support throughout the year and can be arranged in any amount through CanadaHelps. Your donation will be automatically processed through your credit card and you can change the details of your monthly gift at any time.

Struts Gallery provides tax receipts for donations made directly to the gallery in the amount of $50 and over. If you donate through our CanadaHelps page, you will automatically receive a tax receipt for any donation amount.

Leaving a planned gift, also known as a legacy gift, is an excellent way to ensure the future of Struts Gallery while thinking about yours. There are several categories of planned giving. Struts Gallery is able to receive planned gifts in the following ways:

Bequests: 

A bequest in your Will allows you to plan ahead while benefiting from tax advantages and deepening your commitment to Struts Gallery. 

All it takes is a simple clause in your Will to leave a gift to Struts Gallery. Please note that Wills can be complex documents and should be drafted with the assistance of legal counsel. The wording of a bequest, if not crafted properly, can become difficult to administer. Your legal advisor will be able to assist with the proper wording of your bequest wishes.

Securities: 

Since the federal government eliminated the capital gains tax on gifts of publicly traded securities, giving a gift of stock is a convenient and tax effective way to support Struts Gallery. Securities donations can even be made directly through our Canada Helps page.
