Struts Gallery is pleased to welcome Talysha Bujold-Abu (Windsor, ON) as our new Open Studio Artist in Residence. Talysha will be in Sackville until October 11, working on illustrations exploring Blackness as a state of being; embodied through self-reflexive storytelling, and poetry.
Talysha Bujold-Abu (she/her) is an illustrator and researcher from Windsor, ON – she holds a Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) from the University of Windsor (2018) and is recipient of the Conundrum Press Mini-Comic Bursary for Black and Indigenous Creators (2021).
Recent lectures and discussions include: the Black Creators Series/Discussion with the Art Gallery or Windsor (2020), Colonialism and Looting in Contemporary Visual Culture with the University of Windsor (2021), and Collecting, Mostly an Artist Talk in Critical Frameworks in Visual Theory at the Alberta University of the Arts (2021).
