Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Centre is pleased to announce the 20th Annual Super 8 Hotel Film Festival: An opportunity for you to shoot your very own short film and present it on the big screen.
If you would like to participate in this year’s festival, here’s what you need to know:
Contact Gallery – Email us at faucet@strutsgallery.ca or phone 536-1211 to sign up and order film. No deadline to register but film supplies are limited so let us know as soon as possible.
Shoot Film – Participants will have access to Super 8 cameras, lights, tripods, and rigging as well as technical assistance.
Process Film – Black & White film can be hand-processed at Struts & Faucet or sent to a film lab for processing at $26 per cartridge. The deadline for lab processing of film is July 1st.
Film Screening – This fabulous event will take place on August 1st.

Black & white film is $40 per cartridge
Lab processing cost is an additional $26 per roll *it’s also possible to process the film yourself, pay $20 for 16mm film instead of Super 8, or learn to make your own emulsion! Email Todd Fraser at faucet@strutsgallery.ca to learn more about any of these options.
Workshops At the beginning of June Struts & Faucet will begin to host a series of weekly workshops leading up the Super 8 Hotel Film Festival screening. These will range from specific skill development workshops to informal darkroom hours. They may include hand processing film, splicing, digitizing, making prints or blow ups, animating on film, making motion picture cyanotype film, and handmade emulsions!
