Welcome New Programming Coordinator | Simone Schmidt

Updated: Sep 22, 2022

We are thrilled to welcome Simone Schmidt in the role of Programming Coordinator at Struts Gallery. Simone Schmidt (they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist from Toronto, Ontario. They grew up a settler on Anishnaabe, Haudenosaunee and Wendat territory. Their practice includes research-based songwriting, music production, poetic prose, video, and printmaking. Most recently they’ve released a collection of poems set to song by the late Joe Wallace, developed an airbrushing practice, and contributed a chapter to Displacement City (U of T Press), forthcoming this fall.

Simone joins Struts as Programming Coordinator with 18 years of experience working in art collectives and bands, and organizing art shows, workshops, interventions, community events, and concerts. Simone is eager to meet the artists of Sackville, to learn about the land and community, and contribute to and develop programming. They’re excited to conduct studio visits with interested artists and play some handball.
