Artist Presentation | Sharon Norwood

Wednesday, March 29 – 7pm

Struts Gallery

Join us for an artist presentation by Struts Open Studio Artist in Residence, Sharon Norwood. Sharon will be showing her work and fielding questions about her practice.

Sharon is an interdisciplinary artist whose work spans several media to include painting, drawing, video and ceramics. Born in Jamaica, she grew up in the Caribbean cultural landscape of Toronto. Her practice explores her personal identity as a Black Caribbean woman. In her work, the curly line is both metaphor for the Black body and also a decorative, ornate mark that speaks to drawing.

While at Struts, Sharon is researching the history of New Brunswick and Sackville’s port economy and marine economies and will use sound and video to explore this relationship to Black communities.
