Collaboration | Soley Cove Legacy Project | Gillian Dykeman

Updated: Oct 27, 2021

Struts Gallery is pleased to announce our collaborative partnership with the Soley Cove Legacy Project and support of Fredericton based artist Gillian Dykeman’s residency at Soley Cove.

A slightly hunched blonde figure, wearing a red flannel, blue baseball hat, gray leggings, and chunky boots, points a rifle into the distance, away from the viewer. Behind them, towering pine trees frame a view of a tall rocky mountain covered in snow.

The Soley Legacy Project is a multidisciplinary outdoor arts event on the Bay of Fundy on August 21 - 22, 2021, which looks to honour the work and activities of Red Clay Farm and its creator, Tom Young. Tom was a longtime supporter of Struts Gallery and the regional arts community and we are honoured to make a small contribution to the creative activity he helped foster at Red Clay.

About Gillian Dykeman:

Gillian Dykeman is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Working through an intersectional feminist and postcolonial framework, Dykeman seeks to empower her audiences in their own lives through playful and critical engagement with visual culture. Her work spans mediums and disciplines such as performance, video, sound, installation, and art criticism. Dykeman is an instructor at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. Open to experimental venues, her work has found its way into galleries, exercise studios, a rare book library, and a geodesic dome.
