QUILTS & LADDERS | LIBBIE FARRELL | START GALLERY
March 15 to 26
We are pleased to announce Quilts & Ladders, a new exhibition presented by START Gallery. The exhibition is open to the public March 15 to March 26, Tuesday to Saturday, 10-5.
"Inspired by and informed by my mother who quilted throughout my childhood, and a general love for all things textile and fibre; I’m very interested in making spaces and objects that reflect the warmth and love created by the work my mother made. When making, I often find myself echoing the domestic space and making everyday objects out of soft sculpture and quilted elements employing phrases that ring around in my brain." - Libbie Farrell
Libbie Farrell
Libbie Farrell (She/They) is a white settler and interdisciplinary artist from rural Alberta, Treaty 6 Territory. They are currently based in Sackville, New Brunswick where they are completing their Bachelor of Fine Arts at Mount Allison University. They are interested in exploring altered versions of the domestic space & notions of queer bodies. By employing an often tongue in cheek approach, they explore these concepts through printmaking and fibre or textile-based approaches.
